Lightning Statistics - Upper Austria

NOTE: The flash counts shown in the following table are so called unhomogenized data. The observed obvious increase in flash counts during the last few years is not necessarily a result from climate effects. Parts of this increase might result from non-climate effects, such as performance improvements of the lightning location system (sensor upgrades, location algorithm upgrades, etc). Homogenization of the ALDIS Lightning data series is a complex task and will be approached within the frame of a cooperation project together with experts from ZAMG, the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics, Vienna, Austria.
